SCHOOL CROSSING

We understand that parents at St Francis School support a pedestrian crossing to replicate the pedestrian crossing at Golden Valley School to the north. The traffic management scheme that is proposed has been designed following collaboration between North Somerset Council Highways and St Francis School. However the Council’s Highway Engineers states that there is little justification for traffic calming and pedestrian crossing at St Francis School on the grounds that the there are no records of any accidents in the area.

We are looking for feedback to support this, as we believe that preventative measures are also of high importance, and we would like to deliver a pedestrian crossing before there is an accident next to the school.

We have attached two options to improve traffic speeds and safety on Station Road.

  • Option 1 is a for a traffic calming scheme including a road build out to make the road crossing easier for children and parents. Download Proposed Plan
  • Option 2 includes a more familiar pedestrian crossing close to the school entrance. Download Proposed Plan

We would appreciate any feedback on these options.
